I own an original from Lynn Whipple and now to add to my collection a piece from Kelly Moore.

If I had the money... the next on my list would be from Joe Sorren but for now that piece will be a pipedream!

Class with Diane Culhane!!

Update on my Previous Post regarding a class with the most talented ....Diane Culhane

We have set up a one day class  for Saturday February 25th at her studio in Ballard,WA from 10-4! Cost is $90.00.

Diane is a ceramic artist, painter, and educator with a BFA in Drawing and Painting from the University of Utah and MA in Education from Seattle University. She has taught Art History and 2D Design at Seattle Pacific University. Currently Diane directs and owns Kelsey Creek Fine Art School in addition to teaching ceramics and painting at Kirkland Art Center, Bellevue Art Museum and Pratt Fine Arts Center. Painting and poetry has become her full time endeavor just this past year. Completed tile projects by the artist include Bellevue Downtown Public Library Children’s Story Time Tunnel, Nordstrom Children’s Tiles, and Bellevue School District Bennett Elementary Tile Installation.

I am SO excited that she has so graciously decided to teach a class here that for me Feb 25th can't come soon enough!

Can't Sleep!

As I am anxiously awake, my husband and dogs, (Bailey and Scout) lay in their beds all tucked in, snoring away (well Bailey and Jeff snore)...

I have a zillion things going through my brain and I can't put them to rest... What does one do with a zillion things??? That's too many! I could handle a hundred!

Ah,, what it would be like to be lil' man Scout! He is too precious when he is asleep (and awake for that matter) I wonder if he dreams about carrots????

well... off to try and put my brain to rest and to dream about carrots (hopefully)!

Misplaced my Carrot!

This ATC is quite appropriate for me lately.

It says.. "keep your eyes on the carrot"..

Somewhere within the last 6 months I feel I have lost touch and "misplaced" my carrot..

and sometimes I am not sure if my carrot is a carrot or an apple or an orange...

It is wise to keep your eyes on your dreams and always stay focused, but what if your reality doesn't accomodate carrot stew? I think for 2006 I need to set some definate goals and time lines for myself. I get so lost and caught up in everyday things (which 75% of aren't really that important) that I loose touch with myself, who I want to be, and what my real dreams in life are.

Call it a mid-life crisis, or just searching for my carrot!

Diane Culhane-talented artist!

Diane Culhane is an artist I would most love to take a class from at the moment! Her beautiful and whimsical paintings are one of innocent and dreamy like nature and her use of colors just intrigue me!

I was on her waiting list for her Portland class and it didn't look as if I was coming off her waiting list... so I emailed her and found out she actually resides in the Seattle area! I asked her if she would be willing to, or had planned on teaching as class in the Seattle area and she so graciously replied and said she would be willing to if I found at least 6-8 attendants!

If there is anyone who would love to take a class from this well-known and extremely talented artist please EMAIL ME ( at [email protected]) and let me know! We haven't set a date or time yet as I need to know if there will be enough people in the Seattle area interested first.
I have seen the work of other students who have taken her class and was moved by what she was able to teach them...

If you are at all interested, you will not be disappointed by her teaching abilities!!! I am NOT a painter by any stretch of the imagination, but neither were some of the people I spoke to who've taken her class. So don't be intimidated by the "painting"!

A special day for a special friend!

My girlfriend Daphne and her fiance Dow were married today!

They had a very intimate wedding that consisted of them, Daphne's 2 girls.. Gillian and Emily and my husband and I.

It was a second marriage for them both and they wanted it very intimate and special.. which is what it was! They were married at the River Rock Inn (bed and breakfast)  in Arlington,WA.

Dow is an avid fisherman and hunter and the surrounding settings were right up his alley. The B&B is in a secluded setting and is decorated lodge style but in a very classy way. There were no other guests at the time so they basically had the entire lodge to themselves.  It couldn't have been any more perfect.

They had the simple ceremony including the girls (which was such a sweet touch) and then the lodge owners made us the most incredible meal! Gourmet food in a homey type setting by candle light in the middle of the lush evergreen trees and the great outdoors!

I would HIGHLY recommend this B&B to anyone!(they are having a Valentines Day special if you're interested!) The owners are as sweet as you can get, and the lodge itself is IMMACULATE! (they treat you as if you WERE part of their family!---and the food---ohhhh to die for!)

My girlfriend made THE most beautiful bride!!! But what was even more beautiful... was to see just how much the two of them love each other! (yes,, I cried)

Simple and sweet, but probably one of the most beautiful weddings I have ever been to. No bells and whistles,, just simple and sweet... they brought out what REALLY matters in a wedding ceremony,, and that was their love and devotion to one another!

took her girls for the night! They are the most precious girls! They are so polite and so sweet and gracious! Dow and Daphne are very lucky and very special themselves!!!

Although it was fairly late (for little girls) when we got home, we managed to get a little "art-time" in! They just love coming over to Stacie's house to create things!!! :)

Newest Book I've bought!

Just received my newest book (was on my wish list but didn't receive it for Christmas so I bought it myself)...

Alphabetica by Lynne Perella

Although I do like it, it seemed to me it's the same ol' published collage artists and the same techniques we've been seeing in many books lately. I was hoping for newer techniques. Don't get me wrong.. if you are looking for eye candy (which we all know I love picture books).. this is still a great book.

My personal opinion... if you were to get one of the 2.. get her first book

My friend Norma Kooi was recently showcased on her website! Click here to see Norma's page! My friend Norma has "owed" me a collage for the last year and I received it in the mail yesterday to my surprise!!! It is soooooooo beautiful!!! It was beautifully framed and it now graces my dinning room wall. THANK YOU NORMA.. It was SO worth the wait!!!!!!!!

Gallery Walk & Art in the Park

It is amazing how many wonderful activities are here in my neck of the woods that I don't take advantage of! I board myself up in my own little world and it's time to go explore whats out there!

Most recently my Mother brought to my attention Pioneer Square's Gallery Walk and Art in the Park happening the first Thursday of every month! I am thinking this is a MUST!~

A resolution for '06 to get out of my comfort zone a little more and EXPLORE what is going on in my own community!
