A lot going on

A bit of time has passed since I have posted....

There is a lot going on in my neck of the woods..

*Trying to organize a garage sale (which I will post when I have it-- if any locals are interested)

*Supporting my husband through multiple tests/interviews he's had to go through for a job he is applying for (crossing my fingers and praying he gets it!!!)

*Taking on a new endeavor.. which I will post soon

and much much more.. unfortunately with everything going on I haven't had the time to do any art lately or put anything new up for sale :(

Things should settle down soon and I will back in a good routine again.

I have some fabulous new vintage material (darling for BABY books) packages I will be putting up for sale soon on ETSY along with awesome Vintage paper packs! I will post them on my journal when I get a chance to put them up for sale. TOO much to do TOO little time..

I have a tendency to get WAYYYYY ahead of myself.. my brain goes a million miles an hour with TONS of ideas and by the time I get around to them I am so spent/so stressed out I don't have the energy.. I need to just SLOW things down a bit so my body and my actions can catch up to my brain.

My husband gave me a little reality check this morning. I've had some recent ideas of grandeur  that I have been acting on and he (the more rational/practical part of the 2 of us) pointed out some things to me based on my personality and the way I am. I was so stressed out (by my own doing)until he pointed a few things out to me. I made a few minor changes and I feel sooooo much better!!!

Like I said.. I get way ahead of myself way too fast.. I am glad I have someone near me to bring me back to real life and look at things with a more practical point of view.

Addicted to Moleskine

I have to admit it.. I am TOTALLY addicted to Moleskine Journals! I have 1/2 a dozen of them, probably 3 of which are partially filled, and 1 of which is filled to the very last page.... MY Road Trip Journal. This one I am so proud of.. 1)it is the only souvenir I brought home from our road trip of any importance. 2)I actually finished the journal in its entirety (probably my ONLY journal I have finished) 3)It serves as a great reminder to me that if I set my mind to something I CAN finish it.

If you don't know about them.. you are definitely missing out! They are made extremely well ,(well worth the money) they STRAP so as your pages don't get bent, they FEEL good in your hands and they are excellent for just keeping in your purse to jot down an idea that strikes you when least expected. Not to mention the HISTORY of them is pretty cool as well! They have entertained the likes of Henri Matisse to Earnest Hemingway!

~~And now that I am thinking about it.. I just hope there were no little moles hurt to make them~~~

They can be somewhat difficult to find in stores but there are ample places to buy on-line (including their own online store). I usually buy mine at PaperZone only because this is my closest supplier and when I want one I don't feel like waiting for it to ship.

I just found out they have a NEW watercolor page journal out now!!! How beautiful would that be..?? an entire Moleskine journal filled with watercolor!

I think the next best thing to a Moleskine, would of course be a handmade journal.. but me personally.. I just don't have the time. So I will "settle" (NOT) for my Magical Moleskine!

Studio Friday

Good times, Good people

I had the absolute treat of meeting one of my long on-line friends today Wendy Crumbley. The chances of us ever meeting were almost next to nothing, but a work trip lended her to the Pacific Northwest for an exclusive stay at the beautiful  Fairmont Olympic Hotel in Seattle. I had some other unintended and unplanned business to attend to this morning, but after that met up with her and her friend Kathy (who I could easily spend more time with)from Mount Vernon while all our husbands played golf together.

We spent a little too much time at my house where she oo'd and aw'd over my sweet Scout dog and then she had to strap on her boots to look into my big mess of a studio. We didn't have a lot of time to spend together but I said if I were to take her ANYWHERE around here.. I wanted her to see the Salvage Studio (my FAVORITE PLACE---yes Amy, Beth and Lisa.. if you're reading this.. it IS my FAVORITE PLACE).. so we spent a while there and then proceeded to go to the Olive Cafe for lunch and good conversation.

Although we spent around 4 hours together it only seemed like 10 minutes. I look forward to seeing her again and being able to spend a little more time with her. I was so excited.. I FORGOT to even take any pictures and before we knew it..it was time for them to go :(

A day in the life

The creative lulls come in combination I think with the lulls in life.(at least for me they do)

This past month & year has been a difficult one for me and my family.

Lots of lows without it balancing itself with the highs..

We are definitely due for some highs!

No, we don’t go through anything different from anyone else..

It is just this thing called life.

We all have it.

We all live it

And honestly we all should be thankful for it.

Because without it.. we wouldn’t feel it right?

Yes it can be painful, and yes it sometimes just isn’t fair.

But we can’t waste our precious time here feeling sorry for ourselves.

Even with the LULLS we should be grateful for what we have.

I know I am!

I just need a tad of that creative spark and excitement to rejoin me!

Yesterday I received a surprise in the mail from Erika Tysse.

We had decided a while ago that we would do a collage trade, (which I was ecstatic about because I adore her work, and have bought several of her pieces in the past!).. but with everything that has been going on lately I hadn't had a chance to get hers out.. and low and behold hers came to me on Saturday (pleasant surprise!).. I was thrilled with the piece she made me.. I just LOVE IT!

Not only did she send the collage but it was packed with incredible treasures she also sent!
